The TNT Express Junior Varsity squad had a good finish in their semi- final against the Halton Crimson Tide with a late game push that brought them within reach, but when the clock ran out they had to settle for  a 28-21 loss to the visitors.
The Crimson Tide opened the scoring early in the first quarter.
But a strong TNT defense held them down for most of the quarter. Mitchell Johnson dropped the ball carrier for a loss of yards followed up by a quarterback sack by John Mason.
Back on offence, quartback Andrew Tee ran for a first down to place the Express at the 28 yard line.
Gary Valentini knocked down a Halton pass and the Crimson Tide had to punt to get out of the their own end.
Pushing toward their first TD, Brian Palmer-Ellerby ran for a first down. The Express was in good position when Matthew Biamonte got another first down for the Express.
Andrew Tee three a long pass to Tyler Kraly who ran in for the TD.
On the kickoff, Adam Dorsey slammed the Halton ball carrier deep in the Halton end.
But the Crimson Tide notched another TD late in the half to lead going into the third quarter.
The Express were looking to get back in the game, when Mitchell Whalen returned the kickoff to start the half with a big gain for the the Express.
The Halton team broke from the pack and it looked like they had a clear path to the end zone, but Gary Valentini turned on the after burners and caught up with the Halton player to bring him down at the 20 yard line.
The Crimson Tide again managed to make good yards and started on the ten yard line with a first downd. They scored on the next play with a sweep to the right.
Kraly got his second of the game on a huge run but the convert attempt was blocked.
Another effort by Kraly scored after a long pass and the Express were hopeful of making of the deficit late in the game.
Trying to keep the Halton squad pinned in their own end, the Express defense turned up the heat with some strong hits by Duncan Ivany and Tommaso Morelli.
That was followed up by a quarterback sack by Nick Litsiou.
With less than three minutes left in the game, the Crimson Tide was forced to punt to get out of a big hole.
It looked like the Express had a chance to tie it up, but a late interception with 2:26 left on the clock ended it and the Express had to settle for the loss.
The JV's had an excellent season finishing with an 8-1 record.
