Hornets post double losses
Alliston 5-4 over Schomberg

With only a couple of games left before going into the playoffs, Thursday's game in Schomberg between the Schomberg Cougars and Alliston Hornets didn't mean a lot in terms of standings or the line-up going into the playoffs, but it was one wild battle to to end off the season.
The game was tied at one, at the end of the first period after goals late in the frame.
Alliston notched the first one when Bobby Sloan scored with 2:42 left on the clock.
That was answered by Schomberg when Tyler Smilsky scored with 1:33 remaining.
The Hornets took the lead in the second period on a goal from Dakota Brooks.
But it was tied at two, when Pol Gonzalez took the feed from Declan Lampe and found the back of the net.
Alliston's Mike Campeau took advantage of a powerplay to give the Hornets the lead going into the final twenty.
A second goal from Gonzalez  tied the game at three early in the second period.
But hopes of a Schomberg win dissappeared when the Hornets placed two in the net just ten seconds apart to take the lead and buy some insurance.

Hornets goals came from Randy Cox and Zenon Byblow.
Schomberg's Peter Kalpakis brought the Cougars back within striking distance with a final goal, but time ran out before the Cougars could make good and tie it up.
It was a good game to watch from a fan perspective with both squads turning out a good performance for this final match-up of the season.
"Maybe half of the first period we were a litte flat, but from then on we played with them," said Cougars head coach Sandy Bell.
The Cougars had an outstanding performance during their penalty kill plays in this game.
"We're down to four guys on the penalty kill," Bell said of who he puts out on the ice in those situations - and it seems to be working well.
Bell was voted in the number two spot in the Coach of the year this season by the GMOHL.
"It should be 'Coaches' award' he said, giving credit to the rest of his staff on the Cougars bench.
The Cougars will play their final game of the regular season against the Penetang Kings on Friday, January 27, in Penetang.
The puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
