The Mariposa skating club held its 22nd annual Charity Figure Skating Gala at Barrie's Molson Center on Thursday, July 4.
Master of ceremonies, Breakfast Television's own Kevin Frankish entertained the crowds and
introduced the skaters.
Singing the national anthem was Canadian recording artist Naomi Bristow, who is also know as the Canadian yodelling cowgirl.
The skating performances started and ended with the 3x Canadian mens Champion, Jeffrey Buttle.
Other skaters included Vera Melnikov, 2011
Central Ontario Juvenile Women's silver medalist and Alistair Slyvester, 2011 4th novice men's champion of Canada.
He also skated with pairs champion Hayleigh Bell.
The crowd went crazy when 8x British champion Steven Cousins took the ice.
My personal highlights of the evening were the 2 performances by Alexandra Paul and Mitchell Islam,
2011 senior dance bronze medalists of Canada.
At the end of the evening Kevin Frankish presnted a cheque for $28,000 to the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.
