Hornets post double losses
A chronic short bench seems to be catching up to the Alliston Hornets.
Several keys players have been sitting it out recently on injuries and other reasons and the Hornets have struggled over the last couple of games.
Even so, the squad turned out a good performance on Thursday, December 8, against the Stayner Siskins, after the Siskins posted a 4-1 lead at the end of the second period.
Two more Alliston goals in the third period brought them back into the game, but another single by Stayner was enough for the Siskins' to hang on to the lead.
It was Friday's home game at the New Tec Rec centre, that left fans wondering after the visiting Midland Flyers shut down the Hornets for two periods.
After playing to a 1-1 tie in the first on goals by Midland's Cody Beasely and Alliston's David LeBlanc,  the Hornets couldn't find the back of the net for the remainder of the game.
A Flyers powerplay goal in the second period, and a  single in the third gave the visitors the win.
The loss leaves the Hornets still in second place with an 18-8 record for the season.
The Hornets don't have a Friday night game this weekend.
Instead they go on the road to Penetang on Friday to take on the Kings with an 8:00 p.m. start.
They return to home ice on Friday, December 23, to face the Schomberg Cougars.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
