Penetang stomps Alliston
It seems no one can remember the last time the Alliston Hornets had nine goals scored against them.
It certainly hasen't happened since they moved into the the New Tecumseth Recreation Complex.
That's why Sunday's game against the Penetang Kings was such  stunner.
"Our breakdown was goaltending," said Hornets head coach Sandy McCarthy. "We can't attack them and then have them come back and get one like that."
Shots on goal against the Hornets was 41 compared to 33 against the Kings.
After notching three in the first period the Kings turned it up with three more in the second to lead 6-1 going into the final twenty minutes.
It didn't help that the Hornets spent half the time in the box in the second period.
They had a good penalty kill but you won't be scoring goals when you playing a man short and spend most of the period on defence.
The Hornets managed a few good moves in third period scoring but the Kings kept on top of it and scored three more before the final buzzer sounded.
The game leaves Penetang at the top in the north division after four games with Alliston at the bottom with a 1-2 record.
The Hornets travel to Stayner on Thursday, September 29, to face the Siskins with an 8:30 p.m. start.
The return to home ice on Friday, September 30, to face the Midland Flyers.
the puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Kings leave with a 9-5 win.
