Alliston 8-4 over Erin
Randy Cox has seven point game
It was the third period of Friday's game between the Alliston Hornets and Erin Shamrocks that had all the excitement.
After playing to a 3-1 score at the end of the second, a scoring frenzy in the final twenty minutes saw the Hornets notch five more and the Shamrocks score four to end the game 8-4 for the Alliston team.
It was a tight back and forth battle in the first two periods but going into the third the were six goals scored in under six minutes to really set the ice on fire.
Alliston's Randy Cox opened the scoring on a short handed effort at 2:49 into the first period when he went one-on-one with a Shamrock defender and came down the left slide then swooped around to the front of the net to take the shot.
Neil Kwast tied it up for the Shamrocks late in the period.
A second Cox goal with less than a second remaining in the period gave the Hornets the edge going into the second frame.
Mark O'Donnell notched the only marker in the second at 12:36 to give the Alliston squad a two goal lead going into the final twenty minutes.
#5 Randy Cox - Alliston forward had five goals and two assists in Friday' game against the Erin Shamrocks.
The third period turned into a turkey shoot from from the start with O'Connell getting his second  of the game just 2:09 into the period.
That was answered by the Shamrocks with a second goal by Kwast just 25 seconds later.
Cox got the hattrick at the 3:19 mark.
Shamrocks'  shooter Rob Mair scored Erin's number three at 5:32.
But three more Alliston goals - two just 14 seconds apart apart -and a final goal at 9:44 put the cap on the game.
Mike Campeau scored goal number seven for the Hornets.
Erin scored at 11:56 mark in the period to bring their tally to four, but it was too late for them to get back in the game.

You can't ignore the fact that six of  the Alliston goals came from the power-house line of Cox, Campeau, and O'Donnell, with three assists from Zenon Byblow.
"That was six goals from our top line," said Hornets head coach Sandy McCarthy. "They were extremely dominant."
Donald Oldrieve was in net for the Alliston squad facing 34 shots for the night.
McCarthy said the current strategy is to roll the goalies over for most of the season rotating between Oldrieve and Robbie Alsop.
The big story is forward Randy Cox notching seven points for the game with five goals and two assists.
Cox led the lead in scoring last season and is continuing to be a dominate force on the ice this year.
"I had Cox in a second shift rotation this game," McCarthy said. "He was rolling two lines."
On his first goal of the night, Cox said, "We were short handed. I just read the play well."
Playing on the line with Campeau and O'Donnell is working out well he says. He played on the line with Campeau last season as well.
"We've been together since the first game of the pre-season," he said of his linemates. "This is the first season with O'Donnell. We have good chemistry on the ice."
The Hornets stumbled in the early going of the season but Cox says you just get past it.
"We had a slow start, but the losses didn't mean anything to us. You can't look back, you just look forward. You learn from your mistakes."
The Hornets travel to Penetang tonight (Sat., Oct. 8) to face the Kings.
They return to home ice at the New Tec Rec Centre on Friday, October 14, to take on the Schomberg Cougars.
The puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
