Hornets post double losses





One night after winning 4-3 in a shoot-out over the first place Stayner Siskins, the Alliston Hornets returned to home ice at the New Tec Rec Centre to win 4-1 over the Midland Flyers.
The win leaves the Hornets in second place in the league - four points behind the Siskins.
Thursday's game in Stayner played to a 2-2 at the end of the first period with both Alliston goals coming from Zenon Byblow.
Daniel Latour and Tyler Happeney notched the Stayner goals.
A shorthanded effort in the second period from Stayner's Mike Mullay, placed the Siskins in the lead but that was matched by Randy Cox with 26 seconds left on the clock.
With no scoring in the third and an empty OT period the came down to a shoot-out.
Alliston's Robbie Alsop, and Stayner's Jordan Lee were in net.
Both goalies managed to shut down three attackers before Mark O'Donnell scored on the fourth Alliston attempt to take the game.
The return to home ice saw the Hornets leading 2-0 at the end of the first period on goals from Mike Campeau and Tyler Crawford.
Midland's John Meeks lit up the scoreboard for the Flyers at 10:14 into the second period.
Two more Hornets goalsf rom Eric Shannon and Mark O'Donnell sealed the deal.
There was no scoring in the third period.
There won't be a Horents home game this Friday as the squad will travel to Penetang to face the Kings.
They return to home ice on Sunday, January 22, to take on the Fergus Devils.
Game time is 6:30 p.m.
